Police Kill South African Returnee For Overtaking Their Van In Anambra

A South African returnee has been allegedly shot dead by police men in Anambra State for reportedly overtaking their patrol vans, Oceanicnews reports.
The incident reportedly took place at Awkuzu, Oyi Local Government area of the state as the yet-to-be identified man who just returned from South Africa on Monday overtook the police patrol vehicles, prompting the police to open fire at him and fled in fear.

An eyewitness told SaharaReporters that the deceased who returned to Nigeria from South Africa on Monday was shot immediately he overtook the policemen.
“He was shot in the stomach, he was on a bike, he was shot for overtaking them and they (policemen) ran away,” he said.
Meanwhile, some angry youths on Tuesday blocked major roads in the community, protesting the killing of the young man in circumstances they described as “unacceptable.”
The incident comes a few days after truck drivers blocked the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway following the stabbing of their colleague by a police officer.
