The governor of Enugu state His Excellency, Rt Hon. Dr Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has been applauded for the existing peace and tranquility in the state.
Speaking when he paid a maiden courtesy visit to the governor at the government house on Wednesday, the new commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSDC), Enugu State Command, Commandant Africa Valentine Ezenyimuru remarked that there has been an increase in the movement of people into the state and attributed it to the peaceful atmosphere of Enugu state which, according to him, is the manifestation of the governor’s peace and development initiative.
Expressing satisfaction and thanking the governor for the corporation and support he has been showing to the security agencies, the Commandment who was accompanied by his management team remarked: “Because of the peace that rules in Enugu State, people are flooding into this state. You (Ugwuanyi) said that Enugu State is in the hands of God and you are attracting peace unknown to you”.
In continuation, Commandant Ezenyimuru disclosed that “through intelligence gathering, one of those we interviewed told me that it is only in Enugu that they can sleep with their two eyes closed; that they have not seen a peaceful state better than Enugu.
“This place (Enugu) is the regional headquarters of the old Eastern region; the population is high and a lot of people do come here, mainly because of the peace that rules in this state”, he said.
