The people of Ogwuagor, in the Abakpa Nike area of Enugu State have been thrown into mourning after a man living in the neighborhood allegedly beat his pregnant wife to death over food.
The suspect identified as Eke Ofia who deals on scrap metal at Nkpor Street, Abakpa, Enugu East Local Government Area of Enugu State reportedly returned home drunk on the day the incidence happened.
It was gathered that upon his return on Wednesday, September 9, he demanded for food from his eight-months pregnant wife. The wife however informed him that there was no food in the house, and that the little one left is for the children. She then reminded him that he didn’t make provision for food before leaving the house in the morning.
This explanation didn’t go down well with the drunk and hungry husband who pounced on her after an altercation ensued, beating her until she slumped.
The woman, after being rushed to the hospital by concerned neighbors, died the next morning, leading to the arrest of the husband.
