The Force Public Relations Officer, Mr Frank Mba may have averted a suicide act with his swift intervention after a suicide post of one Abba Ahmed went viral on the internet.
Ahmed who deals on fabrics and textile materials in Kano had posted on his Instagram and Facebook handles, that he would commit suicide if he fails to marry President Mohammed Buhari’s daughter, Hanan
It took the swift intervention of Mr Frank Mba who signalled the Commissioner of Police in Kano, Mr Habu Sani who in return invited Ahmed for questioning and later counselled him not to make good his threat.
Speaking later after his invitation by the Kano Police Command, the 22 years old final-year student of Accounting at Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano said he regrets his actions and denounce his viral social media statement. He said that though he made efforts to contact President Buhari’s daughter to profess his ‘love’ and readiness to marry her.
According to him, “I am impressed with the way Mr Frank Mba spoke to me. I also became very sober when the Commissioner of Police, Mr Habu Sani counselled me and urged me to desist from such thinking. The Chief Imam of the Police Command also admonished me.
“I have denounced my earlier intention. I will no longer commit suicide. I will respect myself and wait for a woman I can call my own wife. I love my life now, and I want to live and fulfil my life ambition.”
“I loved Hanan because of her beautiful face. I admired her because of the integrity of her father. “but I don’t think she knew I loved her. I tried to inform her, I do not think the message reached her. I also tried sending messages to President Buhari through the Social Media, I do not think he actually got the message.”
