Oceanicnews reports that the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has called Mohammed Adamu the Inspector General of police to go against those calling for an end to SARS police unit, saying that the protesters are being sponsored by internet fraudstars, otherwise known as Yahoo Boys.
But in a statement by Comrade Adeyemi Azeez NANS National Public Relations Officer on Saturday in Abeokuta, he warned that though the activities of SARS needs to be reformed, that the protest may lead to chaos as violent clashes have been recorded.
He said “We are aware that some internet fraudsters, in a bid to continue perpetrating their criminal acts, are mobilising hoodlums to protest against the activities of SARS,”
“The police should not hesitate to arrest and prosecute anybody caught disturbing the peace of the public and causing violence all in the name of protest,” he concluded.
